The application of the Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) to seniors’ independent living communities remains a pressing and complex policy issue. This breakfast session will provide a high-level overview of the regulatory, operational, and policy landscape shaping the sector. Panelists will explore potential pathways to modernizing the current regulatory framework, discuss strategies for constructive engagement with government to achieve lasting clarity, and share operator perspectives on how regulatory uncertainty affects business models and service delivery. The discussion will be grounded in data and analysis of the existing seniors’ independent living housing stock, with consideration given to future investment and supply implications.
