In 2022, the B.C. Ministry of Health launched a five-year Health Human Resources (HHR) Strategy outlining 70 initiatives across four pillars to strengthen health care through improved recruitment, retention, training, and system redesign. Yet the senior care sector continues to face a deepening workforce crisis. Staff shortages, recruitment challenges, and the loss of experienced workers to other industries are straining providers and undermining stability. Limited funding and training capacity further hinder efforts to develop a skilled workforce, leaving the system ill-prepared to meet the rising demand as the population ages.

Against this backdrop, this Care to Chat will use a World Cafe format to engage operators, government, educators, and industry partners in collaborative discussions.

Their insights will inform BCCPA's ongoing HHR policy work, including recommendations developed through the Board, HHR Committee, and sector research, towards a coordinatred, long-term workforce strategy for B.C's senior care sector.

Don't miss the opportunity to be at the forefront of devising solutions for workforce challenges in senior care. Join us to learn, share experiences, and contribute to this conversation about protecting seniors in a changing world.
