Canadians want to age well; with dignity and grace. And while many seniors will receive support from unpaid caregivers, ensuring our seniors have a dignified future will require a robust and highly qualified workforce. In fact, it is anticipated that the seniors’ care, living and wellness sector will be one of the fastest growing industries in British Columbia over the next ten years, creating over 35,000 job openings.

Yet despite the critical importance of this growing sector, employers are facing a critical shortage of qualified workers. Seniors care, living and wellness operators are reporting shortages of health care assistants and nurses, as well as growing shortage of support services staff and allied health professionals.

Ensuring a robust workforce for tomorrow is going to require new ideas and innovative approaches. At this forward thinking Care to Chat event, our panel of health care experts will discuss practical strategies to create a thriving workforce. With a focus on recruitment, topics of discussion will include improving public perception of the sector; marketing and awareness strategies; new education and training approaches; immigration policies and improving labour mobility; technology and workforce innovations; and much more.
